Absence Of Staff At PIMS Emergency Multiplies Patients' Woes

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july, 2016) : Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), one of the major hospitals of the capital, has been facing severe shortage of staff at its emergency centre to serve serious patients, especially during the emergency like situations. The woes of the accidents and other severe injured patients multiply when they fail to get assistance from the hospital staff in serious conditions while undergoing through their mental and physical agony at the emergency centre. They urged the hospital administration to further hire services of medical and para medical staff for assistance of patients particularly in emergency cases.
A patient at PIMS emergency, Abbas Ali said "I received injuries in road accident and the rescue 1122 brought me to PIMS. Some junior doctors examined me but afterwards they left me alone on the stretcher without providing any medical support.
" He said "I had to wait for hours and after several requests some non-medical staff taken me for medical checkup and other tests. Another patient Rahif Ahmad said that hospital needs to hire helping staff for provision of assistance to patients in the emergency centre. He said, the hospital was unable to follow SOPs.
He said "It is unbearable for the patients to wait for hours at hospital's emergency when they are in critical conditions." When contacted an official of the hospital said that best medical treatment is being provided to the patients by hospital medical and para medical staff.
He said that the hospital was fully following the SOPs and other standards in accordance with the international approved standards to provide proper cover to patients.
