DFID Country Head Calls On KP CM

PESHAWAR, Feb 2 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Feb, 2017 ) : Dartment for International Development, United Kingdom (DFID) Country Head Joanna Reid Thursday called on Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak here at CM house.
KP CM appreciated the assistance being provided by DFID to the province and said that the efforts were achieving good results particularly in education, health and nutrition facilities. He said that by enacting various legislations in KP, his Government has laid foundation for good governance in the province, adding that full operational independence and administrative autonomy had been given to police and other departments.
He said that no successive government in future would be able to derail the province from the path of good governance, empowerment of the people, justice and development as henceforth, they would be unable to take shelter behind the previous exploitative laws and statutes.
Grabbing the opportunity, the KP CM invited the British and European investors to come forward and take benefit of the investment opportunities in the province particularly in the hydel power generation, and the ones arising out of the western route of CPEC.
Elaborating on the occasion, Secretary Health Abid Majeed pointed out that mortality ratio had been reduced to 200 from 275 per 100,000, infant mortality from 63 per cent to 55 per cent, stunting from 75 per cent to 45 per cent, while over 90 per cent children were administered Vitamin A supplements and the TT coverage has been increased from 64 per cent to over 80 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister KP was assured in a meeting by the ADB Country Director for Pakistan Werner E. Liepach that their Bank would provide every support to the urban transport and infrastructure development program of the Province particularly the Peshawar (RBT) Rapid Bus Transit project.
The ADB delegation discussed in detail the Peshawar Mass Transit Project and held that the scheme was the most viable urban transport scheme and every effort would be made to complete it as soon as possible.
Provincial Ministers Mohammad Atif Khan, Shah Ram Khan Tarakai, Shah Farman and Advisor to CM for C&W Akbar Ayub were present on the occasion besides additional Chief Secretary Mohammad Azam Khan, Secretaries Health, C&W, PE&DD, Excise and Taxation.
The members of DFID delegation also included Deputy Head of DFID Pakistan Judith Herbertson and Head of Governance Honor Flanagan. APP/adi/ahn
