Weekly Inflation Goes Down

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july,2016) : The weekly inflation for the week ended on July 28, for the combined income group witnessed a decrease of 0.09 per cent as compared to the previous week. The Sensitive price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 219.77 points against 219.96 points registered in the previous week, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here on Friday. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 1.94 per cent. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 however, increased by 0.03 per cent as it went up from 211.02 points in the previous week to 211.09 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to Rs 12,000, Rs 12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 and above Rs 35000 decreased by 0.01 per cent, 0.05 per cent, 0.
09 percent and 0.14 per cent respectively. During the week under review average prices of 9 items registered decrease, while that of 15 items increase with the remaining 29 items' prices unchanged. The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included chicken (farm), onions, bananas, tomatoes, red chilly (powder), LPG Cylinder, vegetable ghee, mash pulse and moong pulse. The items which recorded increase in their average prices included garlic, sugar, rice(irri-6), potatoes, rice (basmati), eggs (farm), tea (prepared) cooked daal, gram pulse, cooked beef, masoor pulse, wheat flour, wheat, mutton and soap. The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included bread, beef, milk (fresh), curd, milk (powdered), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), vegetable ghee (tin), gur, salt (powder), tea (packet), cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, georgette, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, firewood, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, hi speed diesel and telephone local call.
