50 Million Poor Families Beneficiary Of BISP: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july,2016) : Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal Friday said the taking care of widows, orphans and disabled persons belonging to the low income group was an paramount duty of the state. Speaking as a chief guest at the launch of reports on population of Pakistan: An analysis of NSER in Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) here, he said,the BISP was Aisa's biggest program and it was playing a key role in eradication of poverty from the country. He pointed out that 50 million poor families were being looked after under the BISP. The Minister said, there was a need to eradicate economic poverty alongside unawareness and ignorance. He said, all economic indicators were showing that the year 2016 was better than the year 2013. Ahsan Iqbal opined that development of the country was not possible without political stability and the continuity in the policies.
He said, positive thinking and self-confidence were essential for any nation, adding,Pakistani nation was honest like other nations of the world. He informed that present government would add 10,000 MW electricity to the national grid by the year 2018. The Minister said, there was a need of investment in human resource sector as the 21st century belonged to economic idealogy. Ahsan Iqbal said, the government was giving special attention to the education sector and added, the budget of Higher Education Commission (HEC) had been enhanced from Rs 100 billion to Rs 200 billion. He said, the media should project positive aspects of events as some good work was being done in the country. Chairperson, BISP, Marvi Memon was also present on the occasion.
