LAHORE, Feb 1 (Pakistan Point News - APP - 01st Feb, 2017 ) : The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) rescued 57,846 victims of different emergencies in conducting 59,340 operations in the last month across the province. According to statistics, the Rescue 1122 responded the calls included 18,618 of accidents, 31,397 of medical emergencies, 1,018 of fire incidents, 1,271 of crimes, 30 of drowning incidents, 52 of building collapse, 17 explosions and 5,443 of miscellaneous operations.
A many as 299 fire incidents occurred in Lahore, 116 in Faisalabad, 95 in Rawalpindi, 66 in Multan, 67 in Gujranwala and 40 in Sialkot while 3,682 accidents were reported in Lahore, 1,806 in Faisalabad, 1,027 in Gujranwala, 1,130 in Multan and 633 were reported in Rawalpindi. Director General Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer while presiding over a meeting of officers at the Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Wednesday, reviewed performance of operations in Punjab for the month.
He directed the Provincial Monitoring Cell to present emergency data on monthly basis for analysis to which response strategy would be revised in accordance with the best practices of developed countries. He said: "We have to maintain standards of the emergency service by timely response with repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipments besides the best utilization of available resources". He also reviewed progress of implementation of Patient Transfer Service in various districts of Punjab so that critical patients could be provided the best possible services as per directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Dr Rizwan Naseer said over 2,300 lives were lost in emergencies in the last month, including 1,899 during medical emergencies, 288 in accidents and 21 in building collapse.
