MPs For Reviving PTV's Past Glory

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jan, 2017 ) : Parliamentarians in the National Assembly Tuesday while terming Pakistan Television (PTV) national institution, stressed the need to revive its past glory.
Talking on a resolution moved by Tahira Bukhari, they were of the view that the government should take steps to improve the performance of the PTV, as it used to present the real face of the nation.
Tahira Bukhari said the PTV's performance had declined as compared to the private channels. The ptv should produce such dramas again which it used to telecast for character building of the youth, she said.
Shazia Marri said the PTV performance was gradually declining despite hiring people on heavy packages. Once the PTV's dramas were equally popular in the neighboring countries but now it had lost its past glory, she said.
She urged for creating conductive environment to all particularly female employees and artists to revive its glory. Saman Sultana Jafri said media was not only considered as opinion makers but also mould the general public's thinking.
She said there was dire need to bring improvement in affairs of the PTV. Tahria Aurganzeb was of the view that the PTV produced talented artists in the past. She said the PTV's stories were based on our social and cultural norms but now it was projecting adversely, she added.
Shafqat Mehmood and Sher Akbar said people were being recruited on favoritism in the PTV resulting losing its glory.
