KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 31st Jan, 2017 ) : Brisk shipping activity was recorded at the Port Qasim (PQ) for second consecutive where five ships C.V Al-Safat, Al-Mukhtarah, White Purl, M.V Teo and Thorco Manatee carrying Containers, Furnace oil, PLG, Slag, Project Cargo were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, SSGC Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Monday. Meanwhile three more ships Northern Magnum, Nordic Gas and Gas Lion with Containers and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at fifty three percent on Monday where a total of eight ships namely Al-Safat, MSC Cloudia, Teo, Thorco Manatee, Zlata, White Purl, Silver Hessa and Al-Mukhtarah are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Slag, LPG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. A cargo volume of 100,307 tonnes, comprising 64,207 tonnes import cargo and 36,100 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,600 containers TEUs) 700 imports TUEs & 1,900 TUEs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
LPG carrier Zlata sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while five more ships namely Al-Safat, MSC Cloudia, Thorco Manatee, Silver Hessa and Al-Mukhtarah are expected to sail on same afternoon. Four ships C.V Northern Nagnum, C.V MSC Albany, M.V Thalassini and M.V Wlady Slaw Orkan carrying Containers, Canola Seeds and Project Cargo are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain and Fertilizer Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while three more ships M.T Harmony-I, M.T Gas Lion and M.V Zealand Ariane carrying Furnace oil, LPG and Clinker are due to arrive at PQ on same day, and Container ship Maersk Savannah and Oil tanker Distya Ameya are due to arrive on Wednesday.
