Javaid Mir denied meeting with Kashmiri detainees in Tihar Jail

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jan, 2017 ) : Hurriyet leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir has said that he was not allowed to meet Kashmiri prisoners lodged in New Delhi's Tihar Jail. According to KMS, Ahmad Mir, who is in New Delhi in connection with his eye surgery, in a media interview said that he wanted to meet Hurriyet activists, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Muzaffar Dar and Muhammad Yousaf Ganai but was denied permission to meet them.

He condemned the behaviour of Tihar jail officials for not allowing him to meet the Kashmiri prisoners. He said that India was neither respecting the international laws with regard to prisoners nor the human rights.

On the occasion, Javaid Ahmad Mir urged India to come forward and take sincere and solid steps for settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris' aspirations so that permanent peace could be established in the region.
