DC orders strict monitoring of subsidy on fertilizers

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jan, 2017 ) : Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chatha ordered officials to ensure strict monitoring of fertilizers subsidy so that its benefit could reach the farming community.

Officials should take action against those involved in selling fertilizers at high prices and those selling bogus fertilizers and pesticides, Chatha said while presiding over a meeting of district agriculture advisory committee and sub committee of agriculture task force here Monday.

He ordered officials to submit fortnightly reports on agriculture development schemes and sought their completion on time. He asked agriculture field officers to move into the crop field areas and provide guidance to farmers.

He said that officials should ensure that all the benefits announced under the Kissan Package should reach to the farming community. He said the land record management information system be simplified to enable more and more farmers to avail interest-free agriculture loan facility.

Nadir Chatha said that he would not tolerate any complaint in the execution of schemes for provision of agriculture machinery to farmers on subsidized prices. He also asked Mepco officials to speed up process of rectifying electricity bills of farmers to enable them pay their arrears in time.

He also sought effective monitoring of water courses and canals and sought registration of FIR only against those farmers who are found to be involved in water theft. Deputy director agriculture extension gave a detailed briefing on schemes relating to vegetables, fruit, pulses, fruit fly, e-credit scheme, laser land leveller, lining of water courses and drip/sprinkler irrigation systems.

He added that so far 3885 farmers have got themselves registered under the e-credit scheme. Director agriculture extension Multan division Rana Ahmed Munir, assistant commissioners Nasir Shahzad and Muhammad Amir, and other officials attended the meeting.
