Growers suggested to carry out pest scouting twice a week

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th july, 2016) : Cotton growers of Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara and other districts, were asked to carry out pest scouting of the crop twice a week. A spokesman for the agriculture department said on Thursday, that in the districts hot spots of whitefly, mealybug, pink bollworm and leaf curl virus had been witnessed.

He suggested cotton growers to use recommended pesticides to get rid of these insects and in case of leaf curl virus, farmers should use nitrogen fertilizers and suggested sprays to deal with the problem.

He said that timely removal of weeds was also very helpful to control leaf curl virus.
