Chitral Police Rescued 20 Families Stranded In Heavy Snow At Lawari Top

SWAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jan, 2017 ) : The district police saved lives of as many as 20 families including children from heavy snowfall and snow avalanche and rescued them to safer places in Ziarat Khani area.
Fresh series of heavy snowfall and multiple avalanches hit Ziarat khani road which was completely closed for every type of traffic where many families returning to their hometowns were stranded midnight.
On special directives of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Malakand Division Akhtar Hayat Khan, DPO Chitral Ali Akbar constituted rescue team under the supervision of DSP Zafar.
Despite heavy snowfall, the team approached the blocked road and rescued the stranded people and shifted them to safer places.
The police on the spot also saved lives of at least 29 Police recruits and 20 others who were travelling on the same route. Moreover, Lowari top and tunnel was closed where hundreds of people were stuck, trying to return to their native towns. After hectic efforts rescue team manage to approach Lawari top and opened tunnel for the stranded motorists at Lowari tunnel Upper Dir.
