KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jan, 2017 ) : Public rights activist Saghir Ali Siddiqui has urged the authorities to ensure early opening of Lyari Expressway's second track. Siddiqui, the secretary general of Khadimeen e Millat Pakistan in a statement here Thursday said traffic congestion and frequent jams that has appeared to be a cause of severe inconvenience for the citizens needed to be addressed on pragmatic basis.
Considerable relief could be provided through completion and opening of the second track of Lyari Expressway connecting different parts of the metropolis to its main hub, he said.
Siddiqui said this would release the pressure on other roads currently undergoing development work cited to obstruct smooth flow of traffic.
He also suggested that construction of roads and other ongoing infrastructure development work must also be expedited with equal attention that traffic laws are strictly complied with. Siddiqui said the number of traffic cops must be increased in Karachi and merit be adopted as sole criteria for fresh inductions.
