Crackdown On CNG Stations, Shopping Malls, Marriage Halls Lacking Fire Extinguishers

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th july, 2016) : Civil Defence Department Rawalpindi Thrusday issued challans to several CNG stations, Marriage Halls, Petrol Pumps and Shopping Malls operating without fire extinguishers. District Officer, Civil Defence Department, Sanjeeda Khanum conducted raids and inspected safety arrangements at public places including Marriage Halls, CNG Stations, Petrol Pumps and Shopping Malls in Pirwadhai and Saddar Bazaar areas. Several Petrol Pumps, Oil Agencies, Al-Janat Mall Saddar and Unique Bakars where security arrangements were unsatisfactory and lacking fire fighting equipment were fined. The District Officer informed, crackdown against the commercial buildings operating without modern fire extinguishers has been started.
She informed, despite notices issued, certain shopping malls, petrol pumps/ CNG stations, Hotels and Marriage Halls lack fire-fighting arrangements. Action in accordance with the law is being taken against the rules violators. She informed that Civil Defence Inspectors have also conducted raids in Murree, Gujar Khan and Kahuta tehsils and several commercial buildings, lacking safety arrangements were penalized. Commercial Plazas and buildings situated in Rawalpindi Division would also be challaned in this regard, she added. She said, the owners of the commercial buildings are being warned of strict action if the instructions of the department are not followed.
