Zero Tolerance Against Illegal Housing Societies: Shehbaz

LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jan, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday directed the authorities concerned to take indiscriminate action against illegal housing societies and those housing shemes which did not provide basic facilities to its residents throughout the province.
Chairing a meeting to review performance of LDA (Lahore Development Authority) and progress on different public welfare projects here, he added that zero tolerance policy should be adopted against illegal housing societies and steps be taken for a proper check on illegal constructions, as no one would be allowed to loot hard-earned money of masses.
He said that debris during construction work should not be left on roads and there must be strict implementation on buildings rules and regulations and installations of security equipment, adding that fire-fighting equipment must be ensured in buildings at all costs.
Action should also be taken against illegal marriage halls, and action as per law should be continued against illegal factories within Lahore, he maintained. Shehbaz Sharif said the LDA should take effective and comprehensive steps for fulfilling its basic responsibility of provision of best services and relief to common man, who should not have to visit offices time and again for resolving his problems.
Earlier, LDA Director General briefed the CM about performance of the institution. While, senior PML-N leader Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Additional Chief Secretary, Commissioner Lahore Division, Secretary Finance, Lord Mayor Lahore, Additional IG Police and officials concerned attended the meeting.
