SNGPL Disconnect 255 Connections

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jan, 2017 ) : Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) during a drive, cut off 255 connections in the region for sucking gas by using compressors and other illegal means.
Talking to APP here on Wednesday, SNGPL General Manager Amjad Mumtaz said that task force was raiding continuously to detect the consumers who had installed compressors or other means to get gas supply with good pressure in winter season and disconnected 255 connections.
He said that they had received 2000 complaints regarding low gas pressure, leakage and sticky metres during last month and disposed of quickly. He said that at least 23,000 new connections were provided to domestic consumers during the current fiscal year as 45,000 connections target set by June-2017.
He said that a total of 260 km network assorted diameters had been laid while 202 kilometres have been commissioned for supply of gas to new localities in the region. About 27 kilometre of leaking network have been replaced and proposal of another 11 kilometre in different areas of Multan region is in the progress, he said.
He said that underground leak detection activity using laser based equipment was also in progress in Multan region. He further said that 14,000 kilometres of network has been scanned and more than 53,000 leaks were identified during the activity, out of which 50,000 leaks had been rectified under unaccounted for gas (UFG) reduction plan, GM concluded.
