HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jan, 2017 ) : The Sindh Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has closed 5 industrial units in Hyderabad SITE here Wednesday for alleged violation of the environmental regulations.
The SEPA's Regional Director Munir Abbassi told the APP that 4 paper mills and one oil mill were among the closed factories.
He said the agency time and again served the units notices directing them to ensure compliance with provisions of the Sindh Environment Protection Act, 2014, and to install in-house effluent treatment plants.
However, they continued to defy the directives, he added. According to him, some 12 units in the SITE area had been closed since Tuesday. Abbassi informed that the closed factories would have to submit an undertaking along with the feasibility report about installation of in-house treatment system to SEPA so that the agency could review their application for reopening the factories.
