Plan to establish Scouts Complex in city

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jan, 2017 ) : An executive committee meeting of Punjab Boy Scouts Association approving the annual budget of Rs 206 million for 2016-17 has decided to establish Scouts Complex in the city.

The approval was accorded in the meeting presided over by Provincial Scouts Commissioner Shamail Ahmad Khawaja who is also Additional Chief Secretary Punjab. Members of the committee Mian Abdul Haq, Dr Muhammad islam Siddique, Abdul Majeed Bhatti, Qazi Zahoor-ul- Hassan, Sajjad Masood Chishti, Aezaz Ahmad, Legal Advisor Khurram Malik and Acting Secretary Punjab Boy Scouts Association Muhammad Tariq Qureshi participated in the meeting.

Veteran Civil Servant Maj (R) Ziaul Haq also attended the meeting on special invitation while life members of the association Muhammad Abdullah and Dr Jamil Haider Mehrvi were also present. The meeting decided to nominate Maj (R) Ziaul Haq as member National Scouts Council on the provincial quota of Punjab.

He will replace late Talat Mehmood Khokhar who was a life member of the association. The meeting also reviewed the annual performance report of Punjab Boy Scouts Association in length. Shamail Ahmad Khawaja while commenting on the annual report termed the scouts movement a gracious path of volunteerism which could lead us to the global peace and brotherhood through transforming personalities of the youth into a disciplined, selfless, hardworking and useful members of society.

Honorary Commissioner Public Relations Punjab Boy Scouts Association Homoeo Doctor Jamil Haider Mehrvi offered on this occasion to sponsor the publication of monthly news letter of this association on regular basis which was warmly appreciated by the committee.

The meeting was informed that the government of Punjab had decided to establish "Scouts Complex" on an area measuring 112 kanal in the Provincial Headquarter of Punjab Boy Scouts Association at Walton Road Lahore.

Moreover, new scouts complexes will also be established in Multan, Sargodha and Khanewal as allocation of land for this purpose has already been done. The meeting decided to impart training of useful activities through solar energy devices to boy scouts besides camping activities.

It was disclosed in the meeting that Provincial Council of Punjab Boy Scouts Association will meet in Governor's House, Lahore, on February 20, in which the office-bearers for the new term will be elected. Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana who happens to be the Chief Scout Punjab, will formally announce the new set up.
