Conference On 'Charter Of Demands & Party Manifesto' Held

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2017 ) : The culture of Democracy and Accountability in political parties and their focus on pressing needs of commonman is need of the hour. This was stated by speakers of a conference 'Charter of Demands and Party Manifesto' held at Karachi Press Club (KPC) here on Monday.
The demands and aspirations of voters need to be taken seriously by political parties and duly incorporate the same in their manifesto. The event was organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in collaboration with Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN).
PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali, FAFEN representative Slaman Iqbal, the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi division Firduse Shamim Naqvi, former parliamentarian Raheela Towana, columnist Muqtada Mansoor, Pakistan Muslim League- Q (PML-Q) leader Aslam Minhani and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Muqeem Alam also were present on the occasion.
Objective of the conference was to present Charter of Demands to the heads of political parties for inclusion in manifestoes. Participants in the conference also raised their demands from their political leaders.
Moreover, advocacy efforts will be made to ensure them as a part of political parties. The conference, besides others, was attended by representatives of political parties, NGOs, Transgender Association, collage students, minorities and a large number of women from district South area of the metropolis.
