Dr. Ajmal Khan Appointed As KU's Vice Chancellor

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2017 ) : Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi (KU), an official of the institution said here on Monday.
He stated that the Governor Sindh, who is also the Chancellor Karachi University, has appointed Prof Dr. Ajmal Khan as the Vice Chancellor of the university for the period of four years. The incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr.
Qaiser, has congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor and expressed his best wishes for him. Prof. M. Ajmal Khan, Qatar Shell Chair in Sustainable Development and Coordinator of food Security Program, Centre for Sustainable Development, Qatar University, has spent 40 years in teaching and research.
He was awarded the degree of Ph.D. (1985) by the Ohio University, USA and D. Sc. (2011) by University of Karachi. He has been a visiting Professor in several US and European universities.
President of Pakistan has awarded Dr.
Khan with the `Pride of Performance' on August 14, 2001 and Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2007 in recognition of his scientific contribution. He has served University of Karachi from 1975 up to his retirement on 2012 as tenured track meritorious professor and later he joined Qatar University as Qatar Shell Professorial Chair in Sustainable Development and Coordinator of Food Security Program, at the Centre for Sustainable Development.
Prof. Khan has completed 40 research projects on various aspects of salt tolerance in plants. The authenticity and uniqueness of his research has received wide acclaim from his peers and fellow researchers and his publications are repeatedly cited in papers from various corners of the world.
He has published more than 400 research papers with impact factor of 285; RG index: 39.64 citations of 7524, h-index of 50 and i10-index of 135. He also edited 14 books
