Rs 550 Bln Programme To Change Fate Of Province: Experts

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jan, 2017 ) : Experts and economists on Friday said that approval of Rs 550 billion by the legislature for developmental projects in the province would boost economy and change fate of the province.
Talking to APP,a senior official of Planning and Development department said that these funds have been released for the implementation of schemes all over Punjab without any geographical discrimination.
Giving the break up of the programme,he said that out of this development budget,Rs 169 billion has been earmarked for social sectors,including Rs 42.5 billion for health,Rs 68 billion for education whereas Rs 158 billion for infrastructure development which includes roads,irrigation and public building sectors and an amount of Rs 29.2 billion allocated for development of agriculture and livestock sectors.
This includes Rs 44.5 billion for education, Rs 29.8 billion for health,Rs 24 billion for water supply and sanitation and Rs3 billion for sports and youth affairs,he informed.
He said that during first half of the current financial year 2016-17, an amount of Rs282 billion has been released for the implementation of development projects across the Punjab.
President,Pakistan Economy Watch, Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that GDP has improved after 2013 and peace situation in the country has improved.He said that the government and non-state actors should play their roles for the economic development of the country.
Prominent economist Dr. Ashfaq Hassan appreciated that during first half of the current financial year 2016-17 an amount of Rs 282 billion had been released for the implementation of development projects across the Punjab.
He said that Punjab governments was paying special attention to the development of different sectors including power,gas,education,health and roads. Dr Ashfaq said with hope that Pakistan would be among the developed countries in world soon as economic indicators of the country were moving in right direction.
