NAB Holds Meeting With Irrigation Officials

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jan, 2017 ) : Director General NAB Multan Brig (R) Farooq Naser Awan chaired a maiden meeting of "Prevention Committee on Canal Irrigation System" here Thursday to examine and introduce reforms in the irrigation system in South Punjab under the Prevention Regime as enshrined in the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
The Prevention Committee was notified by the chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Ch to identify loopholes in existing system and to suggest/recommend improvements in system for prevention of corruption and corrupt practices in the irrigation system and at the same time giving relief to poor farmers who were facing acute water shortage during Rabi and Khareef, says a press release issued by NAB Multan spokesman.
Today's was the first meeting and the committee members would assemble again within three weeks to deliberate upon recommendations and to arrive at a conclusion for suggesting / recommending new and improved system of canal irrigation.
Director General NAB Multan, who is the president of the committee, said the NAB Multan was strictly following Chairman NAB's policy of Zero Tolerance against corruption.
He said the NAB Multan would finalise recommendations of members of prevention committee within next three months and will send these to Chairman NAB for necessary amendment to policies/procedures of the Irrigation/Agriculture Department, as required.
Those who attended the meeting included Abdul Hafeez Khan, Director NAB Multan (vice president of committee), Ahmad Mumtaz Bajwa, Additional Director (Staff), NAB Multan (secretary), Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, Additional Secretary (Irrigation) Lahore, besides members of the committee including Mr.
Rashid Qamar, Deputy Prosecutor General Accountability NAB Multan, Malik Ameer Muhammad, Chief Engineer (Irrigation) Multan, Waqar Hussain Warraich, Chief Engineer (Irrigation) Bahawalpur, Abid Masood Aamir, Chief Engineer (Irrigation) DG Khan, Zafar Ullah Sandhu, Director (Water Management) Agriculture Department Multan, Abdul Hameed Ch., AD (Legal) Anti-Corruption Establishment Multan, and Asim Raza, Deputy Director NAB Multan.
