Incorporation Of Rehabilitative Medicine Suggested In MBBS Curriculum

KARACHI, Jan. 18 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jan, 2017 ) - Speakers at a session organized by Baqai Medical University here Wednesday suggested incorporation of rehabilitative medicine and physiotherapy at graduate level medical curriculum.
Prof S Fazal Hussain, Prof Khalid Shaukat, Dr Mehwash Shamim and other faculty members of the university addressing a seminar said the importance of rehabilitative medicine in particular and physiotherapy in general has assumed immense relevance in the modern day medical science.
It is not only that individuals in the present day mechanized world are more prone to accidents and related incapacities but emerging health conditions also demand need for proper understanding about the updated interventions, they said.
Speakers also sought need for a revised National Health Plan with equal attention towards pharmacology and pharmacy. Acknowledging that pharmacology has already been incorporated as a full fledged subject at MBBS level, the speakers said attention is needed to be paid towards better research opportunities for students pursuing pharmacy.
The needed health plan, they said must focus at quality education and training for man power needed in the fields of pharmacy, physiotherapy and varied fields of medicine.
