PEC Accredits UAF Program

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2017 ) : Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has accredited Food Engineering Program of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). Chairman Department of Food Engineering Dr Muhammad Azam Khan on Monday said Food Engineering degree program was designed in accordance with basic guiding principles of the Accreditation board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the USA to meet current needs of value addition of farm products and self-employment prospects.
To prepare draft curriculum of degree program in Food Engineering, Prof Dr Yus Aniza, HoD and Prof Dr M.N Ibrahim, Department of Process and Food Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), were invited at University of Agriculture Faisalabad earlier.
Post-harvest food handling is a significant feature in agriculture sector and skill in dealing with agricultural produces at and off-farm gate is an uphill task, he added. He further said that the UAF is heavily investing on human resources and faculty development as more than 100 UAF faculty membersare studying abroad to deal with different challenges especially agricultural sector whereas the UPM teachers are also teaching at UAF campus through online system.
