AJK PM For Due Role Of Media In Strengthening Democracy And

MIIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jan, 2017 ) , : AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan Saturday said the role of journalist community was of vital importance for promoting harmony and tolerance in the society, and strengthening democracy and democratic institutions.

Besides constructive criticism, media had to encourage the institutions on good deeds, he added. He expressed these views while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected governing body of the Central Union of Journalists District Muzaffarabad.

The Prime Minister administered oath to newly-elected CUJ Muzaffarabad President Masood ur Rehman Abbasi and other office- bearers. He said a comprehensive plan should be evolved for other demands of journalist community and a practicable planning should be made keeping in view their socio-economic requirements.

He said journalist community had expressed complete confidence in them and now it was their responsibility to play a more active role in resolution of problems of journalist community.

He said government is considering setting up a tv channel in private sector and also a news agency supervised by Press Foundation.

He said Press Foundation would be made more active so it could better serve for the welfare of the journalists.He said all issues of state newspapers would also be resolved accordingly. Amir Jamaat e Islami Abdul Turabi ,Sardar Zulfiqar ,Masood Abbasi,Ibrar Haider and others also addressed the ceremony.Ministers Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan and Noreen Arif and member Assembly Dr Mustafa Bashir were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Nazim of Islami Jamiat Talba Raja Aftab Ahmed called on Prime Minister and brought students issues into his notice.
