PEMRA Teams Seize Equipment From Cable Networks In Jampur, Pattoki

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jan, 2017 ) : Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) while taking notice of complaints by social media users on Twitter against two cable operators, carried out prompt action and seized their equipment.
The operators were showing illegally vulgar Indian content through in-house CD channels, a press release issued here said. As per details, two separate complaints were posted on Twitter against cable operators in Jampur, District Rajapnur and Pattoki, District Kasur, that they were showing vulgar Indian content without any regard for the law and morality, press release said.
With regard to complaint in Jampur, PEMRA Multan team conducted a raid on M/S Babbar Cable Network and confiscated 5 CPUs, one connecting switch (hub) and a dish tv receiver with card during the raid.
PEMRA team was led by Assistant General Manager Abdul Rehman carried out the operation while senior field inspector Atif Khan and others were also part of the team. Likewise, a tweet was posted from Bhoay Aasil, Tehsil Pattoki against a local cable operator for the same reason.
Regional office Lahore team taking a prompt action sent its rural team led by Field Inspector Amir Bhatti and confiscated two receivers and two CPUs. PEMRA teams after completing the operation have conveyed to the complainants about action on their complaints.
Meanwhile, PEMRA has welcomed the trend of using social media as a forum for registering complaints against the cable operators involved in illegal activities and called for more such tweets and posts exposing the ills of society.
