ICT Police register 245 cases in crimes against women, children

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th july,2016) : Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have registered 245 cases in crimes of different nature committed against women and children during last three years and four months. Of the total, 196 cases were registered in crimes against women and 49 cases in crimes against children in ICT. A data issued by Interior Division on Wednesday revealed that usually crimes against women were being registered under heads of crimes, domestic violence, burning and harassment at work while crimes against children were being registered under heads of violence, kidnapping and forced labour etc. A break-up of cases regarding crimes against women registered in ICT from January 2013 to April 2016 has revealed that total number of such cases was 48 in 2013, 33 in 2014, 79 in 2015 and 36 in four months of this year. Giving category-wise details, the data showed that during the period 25 cases of murder have been registered in ICT in domestic violence domain.

The number of attempted murder cases was 12 while 48 cases were registered in beating domain during the period. During 2013, seven cases of murder were registered, six in 2014, eight in 2015 and four such cases during first four of this year. Four attempt to murder cases were registered in 2013, three in 2014, two in 2015 and three in 2016.

Moreover, 16 cases of beating were registered in 2013, 15 in 2014, 10 in 2015 and seven in 2016. The data showed that in honour killing domain, one case was registered in 2013 which was of acid burning nature. Similarly, in harassment at work place domain, three cases - one in 2015 and two in 2016 - were registered during the period.

In other nature of cases of violence (354 PPC), 20 were registered in 2013, 10 in 2014, 32 in 2015 and nine in 2016. Moreover, with regard to cases of crimes against children registered in ICT, the data showed that during the period the number was 11 in 2013, 14 in 2014, 20 in 2015 and four in 2016. As per details, in violence domain, eight cases were registered in 2013, eight cases in 2014, 11 cases in 2015 and two cases in 2016. In kidnapping domain, the number was three cases in 2013, six in 2014, eight in 2015 and two in 2016.

In forced labour domain, one case was registered during 2015. Regarding steps taken/being taken by ICT Police to curb the said crimes in ICT, the data showed that SDPOs/SHOs have been directed to register FIR immediately on receiving complaint. The victims of violence are sent to hospitals immediately if required while necessary counseling/advice is provided to victims/ complainants.
