Rescue 1122 given control of hospital ambulances

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has granted control of the public sector hospital ambulances to Rescue 1122 with a view to facilitate the patients and provide them timely medical aid.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting, chaired by Shehbaz Sharif, to review the measures regarding betterment of healthcare system. Addressing the meeting, the Punjab Chief Minister said standard healthcare facilities were basic right of the people and the Punjab government would leave no stone unturned to provide best medical facilities to the public.

Shehbaz Sharif said Provincial Health Minister should personally visit to review healthcare facilities at the hospitals of the province, adding that the resources provided for the improvement of health sector should be utilized through best medical care.

He said traditional medical system could not provide the patients with best medical care so there was a need to replace this system with an improved and effective system. The Punjab Chief Minister said,"Provision of health facilities to the ailing humanity is our responsibility which is possible through service.

" He said prompt decisions would have to be taken for the automation of medicine in the hospitals.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the Health Department and Rescue 1122 to present a comprehensive plan regarding placing of ambulances of the hospitals at the disposal of Rescue 1122 within seven days. He said practical steps should be taken for improvement of healthcare system in the real sense.

He said, "Effective system of accountability is vital for improvement of healthcare system and we should join hands to make healthcare system the best." He said that expertise of Aga Khan University Hospital would be benefitted for improving healthcare system.

Chief Executive Officer Agha Khan University Hospital Karachi, Johannes Theodours Kedzierski said he would be pleased to cooperate with the Punjab government for improving healthcare system. Provincial Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Secretary Specialized Health & Medical education, Secretary Primary & Secondary Health, DG Rescue 1122, medical specialists and senior officials attended the meeting.
