HESCO dirceted to improve performance

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2017 ) : Federal Secretary Water and Power Muhammad Younus Dhaga Thursday directed the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company to improve its performance by ensuring 100 per cent mobile meter reading, unearthing power theft, reducing line losses and recovering of outstanding dues.

He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting of HESCO officers. The secretary underlined the need of further activation of customer service centres for addressing billing complaints asking the officers to prepare a comprehensive strategy for their early redressal.

He also emphasized upon them to work as a team work, appreciate the outstanding efforts of the officials and employees and take action against those who found negligent in their duties. Appreciating the performance of Executive Engineer Gari Khata Division and Sub-Divisional Officer Saddar Sub-Division Hyderabad, the secretary expressed his dismay over the poor management of Thatta and Tando Allahyar sub-divisions with the warning to staff posted there to improve performance or be ready for departmental action.

Managing Director PEPCO Umer Rasool informed the meeting that monitoring teams of PEPCO were checking the billing section, mobile meter reading and customer service centres of the entire HESCO Region and if they found poor performance of any employee, the show cause notices would be issued with departmental action.

The HESCO Chief Executive Officer told the meeting that total 66 teams were engaged in carrying out operation against power theft and defaulters. The team removed 340 power transformers due to non-payment of outstanding dues and also unearthed 7,000 illegal connections in various parts of the region last month, he added.
