JPMC To Organise Symposium From Jan 16 To 19

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2017 ) : The 52nd Annual Medical Symposium of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) will open from Jan 16 to 19 with the theme of "Prevention is better than cure" at JPMC Symposium Secretariat.
Prof Adib-ul-Hassan Rizvi, Prof Sadiqua Jafery, Dr Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf and other prominent figures from the health sector of the city and other parts of the country will address the sessions of symposium.
Chairperson of Symposium Prof Dr Sughra, sharing details of the symposium's sessions, she informed that 40 Pre-Symposium workshops, 28 scientific sessions and plenary sessions with guest speakers would be held.
Dr Sughra briefing the media at JPMC's Najmuddin Auditorium said that Sindh Minister for Health will be the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony. She added that the aim of organising symposium is to promote awareness about the diseases, their treatment, cure and preventions.
On the occasion, Secretary of Symposium, Dr Haleema Yasmeen of Gynecology Department JPMC was also present. While talking to media she said despite problems the JPMC have been able to gain the confidence of the public.
"The people who can afford public sector hospitals, prefer Jinnah because of expertise of its doctors", Prof Dr Haleema said. In a response to a query, Dr Sughra said that around 250 research papers will be presented during the symposium.
She added that prominent doctors from other countries will also join the symposium. She said that recommendations will also be drawn during the symposium and will be presented in concluding session which would held on Jan 19. When asked about the cleanliness in JPMC, she replied that all out efforts are being made to ensure cleanliness in the hospital. APP/fc/ms/anm
