Although New Zealand opted to bowl first on a green wicket with a howling wind, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was unaffected by the conditions to reach 36 off 37 balls when the rain set in. Mominul Haque was not out on two, while Imrul Kayes fell in the fourth over for one. Showers and wind gusts up to 120 kilometres per hour (75 miles per hour) are forecast for much of the day.
