AJK Govt To Start Plantation Drive From Next Month

MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has decided to initiate a plantation campaign from next month on large scale to overcome the environmental and other issue due to quick deforestation and announced to turn the territory into a flower city.
This was decided in a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and attended by Minister Forest Sardar Mir Akbar Khan, Chief Secretary Sikandar Sultan Raja, all the departmental heads.
The prime minister told the meeting that he would himself visit all areas after the campaign to assess whether the objectives were achieved or not and would spare non responsible for failure and directed the concerned officers to turn the territory into a flower city.
He directed the meeting to involve the people from every sphere of life and civil society in the campaign to make it successful and appealed to the people that at least every citizen must plant a tree during the campaign.
He said the protection of environment and nature was linked with the existence of coming generations and could not be compromised at any cast and directed to evolve a solid and comprehensive strategy for the success of campaign.
