FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Wednesday hailed the export incentive package of Rs 180 billion announced by the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and termed it a business friendly step by the government.
In a press statement, FCCI president, Engineer Muhammad Saeed Sheikh said that announcing the package was an encouraging step for business community which would not only stabilize the national economy but also help Pakistan to regain its supremacy in the field of textile exports.
He said that in 2014, soon after the grant of GSP Plus status to Pakistan, the exports of the country had recorded a phenomenal growth of 23 percent but its decline started in 2015-16 due to energy crisis.
He said that Pakistani exporters and trade bodies had been demanding incentives equivalent to other regional competing countries. He welcomed the step taken by the present government and said that uninterrupted power supply had also helped exporters to maintain their production and fulfill their foreign commitments within the stipulated period.
He said, "We are thankful to the government for resolving energy crisis but it should also take measures to cut down the prices of electricity and gas so that our exporters can compete with their regional competitors".
