Sindh CM orders preparation of KCR feasibility report

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Wednesday ordered the preparation of feasibility report for the Karachi Circular Railway at the cost of Rs.

45 million and removal of encroachments from the route of the project. The Chief Minister, presiding over a meeting here, sought a detailed report from the Commissioner Karachi within a week about encroachments on KCR route.

He asked the Commissioner to chalk out a plan with Deputy Commissioners concerned for the removal of encroachments, and initiate an anti- encroachment operation after a week. Briefing the meeting, Sindh Transport Minister Nasir Shah said over 5,000 houses and other illegal constructions would be demolished at the route of KCR.

He pointed out that the KCR project would cost $2.6 billion. Deputy Superintendent Pakistan Railways Karachi Nisar Memon, giving details about the encroachments, said that 29 acres land was encroached near Wazir Mansion, 2 acres from Wazir Mansion to Baldia near Orang Nullah, 1.5 acres from Orang Nullah to Nazimabad, 2.5 acres from Nazimabad to Liaquatabad, over 3 acres from Liaquatabad to Gilani Station, 2 acres from Gilani Station to urdu University, over 4 acres from Urdu university to Karachi University and from the university to further ahead an acre of land of the KCR project was encroached.

Divisional commercial officer, Pakistan Railways, Karachi, Nasir Nazeer and other officers concerned attended the meeting.
