GDA Contractor Fails To Remove Snow From The Roads Of Galyat

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jan, 2017 ) : Galyat Development Authority (DGA) and Civil Works (CW) department Khyber Phaktoonkhawa, WAPDA on Tuesday failed to reopen roads and reinstate the electricity in Galyat.
According to the details, four days continuous heavy snow fall in Galyat blocked main Muree road, connecting roads of the several villages of Galyat and badly damaged the electricity transmission lines could not recovered.
GDA granted the contract of snow removal from Galyat worth 5 million rupees but contractor did not even touch the connecting roads with Nathiagali, Donga Gali and Ayubia. Although main Muree road is partially clear but still its slippery where only local driver can drive whereas tourists have a lots of difficulties.
Removal of snow from vehicular areas, pedestrian areas snow removal and application of de-icing material where applicable is the prime responsibility of the contractor. Due to incomplete snow removal from main Muree road, while taking the advantage of slippery roads in Galyat vendors are charging 2,000 rupees from tourists for provision of tire chains.
Although GDA has also established a help desk in Galyat to cope with the land sliding, road blockage, electricity breakdown and other issues but yet no fruitful activity has been started. People are stuck in houses and shortage of food items, firewood, medicines can also be seen in the areas.
