Eradicaton Of Polio Virus Is National Responsibility: ADC

NAWABSHAH, Jan 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2017 ) : Polio was a dangerous disease and struggle to eliminate it was a national responsibility. This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner-1 Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Hafeez Laghari on Monday.

While addressing a meeting on the polio eradication campaign being launched from January 16, 2017, the Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed the parents to administer polio drops below the age of five years in order to protect their children from this disease.

He said slackness in administering the polio drops would not be tolerated. Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Abbasi, officials of Health Department, Assistant Commissioners, Mukhtarkars, representatives of World Health Organization and officials of concerned departments attended the meeting.

ADC-1 instructed the officials of Health Department to settle the issues of workers of Polio teams on priority basis so that they take part in the campaign with dedication. He asked to point out issues and problems during the polio campaign in order to resolve these issues to make the campaign with positive ending.

Earlier, briefing the meeting, officials of health department said 3,38,000 children below the age of five would be administered Polio drops during the three-day Polio campaign being launched from January 16 to January 18, 2017.

Officials said for the purpose 785 teams were formed which would be supervised by 62 Medical Officers at Union Council level while 165 Area In-charges were also nominated to keep track of the polio campaign.
