KP Govt Making Efforts For Transformation Of Universities: Khattak

PESHAWAR, Jan 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2017 ) : Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak said the government was going all out for the transformation of universities into generating knowledge-based economy in order to achieve the set-goal of prosperous future of our youth.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the new Academic Block-II in University of Peshawar here on Monday. Advisor to CM on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Secretary Higher Education, Vice Chancellors of both public and private sector universities, Deans of faculties, Heads of the departments, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said students were the first and last hope and future of the country, therefore, they must possess the wherewithal to connect the theory with practice, the lab with the land and the desire with the efforts that he termed as the realistic way-out to our advancement.
The chief minister reminded that his government had already provided funds for the newly established academic unit of the institution of peace and conflict studies and the department at the criminology at the University of Peshawar that showed his government commitment to the promotion of Peshawar University.
These efforts would generate a lot of activates, news rays of hope and fresh sources of enlightenment, he added. He extended all out support to the universities throughout the province. The Chief Minister was for integration of academic activities and equipping the students with knowledge of modern day so that they could have an active role in the future progress of the people and this province.
He stressed for dedication and commitment to raise the standard of education to the level of international universities. He also congratulated the Vice Chancellor and his team for his commitment and hard work in negotiating various MoUs with USA , China, Malaysia, and South Korea.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the sports complex and a new academic block-II at University of Peshawar. At the conclusion, he was presented a souvenir by the Vice Chancellor. The VC Rasul Jan presented his welcome address highlighting various programs and activities initiated in the university.
