ECP Completes Technical Work For EVMs: Zahid Hamid

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : Federal Minister for Law and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Electoral Reforms on Tuesday said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had completed technical work for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Biometrics Machines.
It was expected to use Biometrics Machines in the upcoming bye-elections, he said talking to mediamen after chairing a meeting of the committee. The minister stated that the committee examined unified elections laws.
Former ECP members had given some suggestions on the unified laws, which would be further examined, he added.
He said Arif Alvi, member of the committee, gave a briefing on the issue of giving vote right to the overseas Pakistanis. The assistance of National Database Registration Authority, he said, was required for the registration of overseas Pakistanis. Zahid Hamid said that in the next committee meeting, point of view of the NADRA Chairman would be sought for preparing of a software to give vote right to the overseas Pakistanis. Six companies have participated in the bid for provision of Electronic Voting Machines and five for Biometrics Machines.
