LAHORE, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has imported three new double-decker buses from China, as the initiative is not only promoting tourism but also highlighting a soft image of the country among tourists.
According to the TDCP sources here on Thursday, so far 74,000 people belonging to different walks of life have enjoyed TDCP "Sightseeing Lahore Bus" service and, keeping in view the increasing popularity of the service, the Punjab chief minister has issued directives to the Corporation to add three more double-decker buses to the fleet.
The department has imported the buses, which would be made part of the fleet after necessary changes and technical analysis in about a week.
A summary for approval of two new routes has been sent to Punjab Chief Minister, sources added.
Addition of three more buses would help accomodate more tourists, who are interested in watching old structures and buildings in the city, constructed during the Mughal and British eras. The two new routes include Jallo Park-Botanical Garden up to Wagah, and the other would go up to Greater Iqbal Park.
The Sightseeing Lahore Bus service was started a year back on the direction of the Punjab chief minister and it has gained a lot of popularity among the public.
