Senate's Sub-committee On PIA Seeks Recommendations Of Workers

KARACHI, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Convener, Senate's Sub Committee on Pakistan International Airlines has asked its CBA President to submit his recommendations in writing for revival and rehabilitation of the national flag carrier.
The Senate Sub Committee in its meeting held for the second consecutive day at the PIA headquarters, here Thursday, also had a session with the PIA's CBA, President, Shamim Akmal, President, PIA Retired Employees Association, Syed Tahir Hassan and Secretary General, Mohammad Younus Kakakhel.
Other members of the sub committee including Senator Gen. (retd) Abdul Qayyum Khan and Senator Farhat Ullah Babbar were also present on the occasion. President, PIA's CBA, Shamim Akmal in his submissions expressed reservations about the organization's policy of out-sourcing and said it was no solution to the problems faced by the national flag carrier.
He said out-sourcing of kitchen and transport departments was actually a cause of loss to the organization. Senator, Gen. (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Khan assured that the Senate's special committee will help to get addressed the problems of the PIA Retired Employees Association.
"All genuine complaints of the association will be placed before the right forum for their settlement on lasting basis," he said. The senator agreed that like other organizations and national institutions pensions of retired workers of PIA must be raised alongwith any increase in the salary of the serving employees of the corporation.
The Senate's sub committee, on culmination of its meeting, also visited different departments located at PIA headquarters.
