Distt Administration submits 30.14 mln in Govt exchequer in 2016

(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jan, 2017) The numbers of persons convicted for non display of rates were 2505, whereas 3,726 were convicted for overcharging by the district administration, said a press release issued here adding that an amount of Rs.

301, 44,400 was submitted to the government exchequer under the head of fine. The district administration took several initiatives and awareness programmes for the consumers that included initiatives for the protection of consumers by price rating, listing and controlling the prices of essential and basic commodities, recovering government land from the encroachers, cultural and sport activities, education campaigns and other productive events.

The initiatives also included projects for the beautification of the city. The district administration conducted 2905 raids in which 46324 number of shops were checked. Magistrates lodged 4116 FIRs that included 1798 FIRs for not displaying rates' list and 2368 number (of FIRs) for overcharging.

District administration conducted 1211 encroachment operations to recover the government land from encroachers and squatters. During the drive 68 Kanal of land was recovered. The operations were conducted at 329 Bazars of Peshawar in which 6083 shops, 1648 cabins, 1138 verandas, 1634 chajas and 1767 signboards were removed which contributed towards making the city a more livable place for the future.

District administration in this year sensitized the issue of cleanliness by involving the volunteers and community.

Special teams of volunteers including student and teachers of university and colleges headed by additional assistant commissioners were assigned areas where they took part in cleanliness and awareness campaigns.

The district administration Peshawar planted 100,000 tree sapling in Regi Model town on 21st of March 2016 as part of Forestry Day celebratiopns. Anti-smoking drive was also launched in collaboration with Iqra National University and an anti-smoking marathon race was organized on April 27 to support the great cause of raising awareness against the hazards caused by the smoking.

Over 900 athletes participated in the marathon race. The district administration also organized a 2-day emergency response management training for volunteers in collaboration with Pakistan Red crescent society, HUJRA, SEED and IDEA at Nishter Hall in which more than 300 volunteers were selected thorough online forms.

The trainings included monsoon contingency disaster management, earth quake relief and initial medical treatment. District administration also organized an automobile show with the help of Pakwheels.com at sports Complex Hayatabad on the November 6 in which different categories of vehicles were displayed. Money generated through registration was contributed to the Cancer hospital.
