Dera police arrest over 4,000 suspects, 800 proclaimed offenders in 2016

DI KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : The district police claimed to have arrested over 4,248 suspects and 893 proclaimed offenders with a large amount of arms and ammunition during various operations against criminals in the district during the last year.

Giving details, the spokesman said police arrested 1007 suspects and recovered 36 klashankov, five Kalakov, 86 riffles, 141 guns, 153 pistols, five hand grenades, two RPG-7 and 5773 cartridges during 369 operations conducted on the directives of the District Police Officer (DPO), Lt Commandar (R) Yasir Afridi.

One dreadful terrorist was also killed in encounter with police, which also rounded up 3241 suspects in 4661 snap-checking during the same period. During checking, the police recovered 35 klashankov, two kalakov, 40 riffles, 179 guns, 505 pistols, four hand-grenades, two RPG-7 and 26930 cartridges, the spokesman added.

As many as 332407 rented houses were checked and scrutinized documents of tenants with registering 431 cases over the last one year. The spokesman said over 50 hotels were inspected and cases were registered against 34 hotels for their failure to take adequate security measures, adding 21514 important places were also checked and FIRs were registered against 42 for making poor security arrangements.

He added that security arrangements of the 2098 educational institutions were reviewed during various inspections and cases were registered against 550, in this regard. The official said that 46 Afghan nationals were arrested and cases were registered against 14 Afghans under Foreign Act during the last year.

He said crackdowns were also launched against misuse of loudspeakers and arrested 154 persons and cases were registered against them. The police also conducted raids during the same period and arrested 893 proclaimed offenders with recovering huge quantity of arms, ammunitions and narcotics.

The DPO said that police were dedicatedly performing their duties to protect life and property of citizens of the district. He said no one would be allowed to take law into his own hands, adding strict action would be taken against those who were found involved in criminal activities.

He also appealed people to cooperate with police to promote brotherhood, tolerance and religious harmony for ensuring durable peace in the district which had witnessed subversive acts in past.
