Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi Chairman Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan also spoke on the occasion. The speakers saluted him and said Edhi's name had become synonymous with dedication to serve the humanity.
They said Edhi revolutionised the very concept of social work and charity in Pakistan which influenced many parts of the world. They said Edhi spent a simple life and dedicated every minute of his life to serving others.
His services were for everyone regardless of their faith, ethnicity and class, which was a sharp rebuke to those who divided the society through violence and fear, they added.
