Mobile Phone Import Falls 14.2% In Jul-Nov

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : The import of mobile phones fell by 14.2 percent during first five months (July-November) of current financial year as compared to same period of last year.
According to latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the mobile phone import fell from US $307.748 million in July-November 2015-16 to $264.059 million in same period of current financial year.
On monthly and yearly basis, the mobile phone import in November 2016, however,increased by 27.55 per cent and 0.87 per cent when compared with the import of October 2016 and November 2015 respectively.
The mobile phone import rose to $65.861 million in November 2016 from $51.636 million in October 2016 and $65.
292 million in November 2015. Similarly, the overall telecom sector imports also decreased by 13.48 per cent during first five months of current fiscal year as compared to the same period of preceding year.
The telecom imports in the period July-November 2016-17 were recorded at $494.086 million while during same period of last year the telecom import registered at $571.065 million. Likewise on yearly basis, the telecom sector import also reduced to $115.9 million in November 2016 as compared to the imports worth of $122.046 million in November 2015.
On month-on-month basis, the telecom import however, witnessed an increase of 11.14 per cent as the imports during October 2016 were recorded at 104,295 million.
