LAHORE, Jan 3 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Jan, 2017 ) : The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Tuesday appealed to the federal finance ministry to stop Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from conducting raids at industrial units and business premises under Section 38, which creating unrest among the business community.
LCCI President Abdul Basit and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan stated here expressed concern that bureaucracy was creating an atmosphere of harassment for businessmen, the backbone of economy.
They added that manufacturing sector was already passing through very critical times due to high input cost and in dire need of handholding by the public sector to run their businesses. The LCCI office-bearers said it came into their notice that FBR officials were not only hurling arrest threats on the owners of the manufacturing units but also confiscating record of these units.
Private sector was ready to supplement all government efforts aimed at revival of economic activities in the country if they were provided breathing space but these steps would made it difficult for them to continue with their businesses.
They said the federal finance minister should take notice of the situation and stop the FBR officials from entering into the business premises. They said that if there was an urgent need to take action against any particular industrial unit, the FBR officials should be directed to take concerned association or the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry on board.
