KP Govt Providing Quality Education To All Including Afghan Students: Minister

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was providing quality education including Afghan students in all government schools. He said this while talking to US Consul General William Martin, who called on him at Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday.
Political and Economic Chief of US Consulate General Peshawar Kathryn Hoffman, Secretary Elementary Education Shahzad Bangash and Special Secretary Qaisar Alam were also present on this occasion.
The Minister informed the US Consul General of the initiatives carried out by the PTI led provincial government in different sectors particularly in education and energy and power departments in detail. The education minister maintained that provincial government focused its attention on female education and raised the female schools ratio to 70 percent while 1300 girls community schools have also been established in the province.
He said that IT labs in all girls high and higher secondary schools would be established this year. The number of IT labs has been increased from 179 to 1300, he said. He said that the government has so far spent Rs.17 billion on missing facilities in government schools hoping that by end of this financial year, no government school would be without basic facilities.
Atif Khan continued that 25,000 teachers have been recruited purely on merit during the last three years while 15,000 more would be recruited this year.
Similarly 830,00 Primary teachers would be given special training of English Medium of Instruction with collaboration of British Consul at a cost of Rs. 570 million, he added. He claimed that all institutions including Police, Health and Education have been depoliticized for the first time in history of the province. Referring to the energy and power sector, the minister said, due to transparent policy, 56 international companies have shown their interest for investment in this sector adding that the government is making allout efforts for providing investment friendly environment to national as well as international investors in the province.
He further said that the government was establishing 356 mini micro hydel power projects which would be enhanced to 1000 in the next two years. After completion of the said projects, it would be handed over to the community for operation. US Consul General while appreciating the initiatives of provincial government assured his all out support on behalf of his government.
