AJK PM for access to human rights organizations, media in IOK

MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Jan, 2017 ) , Jan 2 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan Monday called for an access to international human rights organizations and free media to assess the increased human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He was talking to Kashmir-origin member of British Parliament, Khalid Mahmood Mirza who called on him at Kashmir House and discussed fast deteriorating situation of human rights in occupied Kashmir and investment opportunities in tourism and hydropower sectors in AJK.

Farooq Haider said several months had passed since curfew been imposed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. Indian troops had turned the held valley into a jail and human rights organizations and free media had been denied access to the occupied territory.

The international community must take serious note of these human rights violations and use its influence on New Delhi to stop committing atrocities on Kashmiris, he said.

The Prime minister while talking about investment opportunities in AJK said this area had great potential of investment in tourism and hydropower generation sectors and government would welcome investment by overseas Kashmiris in AJK.

Khalid Mahmood expressed his concern over human rights situation in occupied Kashmir. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir deserved right to self determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions so they could take decision about their future freely.

Senior Minister Ch Tariq Farooq, Member Assembly Ch Javed Akhtar Advocate, Member Kashmir Council Sardar Abdul Khaliq Wassi and others dignitaries also met the Prime Minister and discussed matters related to the common interests.
