Rain Likely Across Country: PMD

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecasted rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls in various parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
According to the synoptic situation, seasonal low was lying over north-Balochistan and its adjoining areas with its trough extending south eastward. Monsoon currents were also penetrating in upper parts of the country.
A fresh westerly wave was also likely to enter upper parts of the country and may persist for two days. Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is likely at number of places in Islamabad, Punjab, FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and isolated places in eastern Balochistan including Zhob, Sibbi, Kalat divisions and Mirpurkhas division.
Light rain is also expected along Sindh-Makran coast. Expected heavy downpour may cause flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.
Rain coupled with glacier melt water may result in Glacier Outburst Lake Flood (GLOF) events in vulnerable areas of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. The concerned authorities and communities are advised to remain alert during the period, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. The rainfall (mm) recorded during the last 24 hours was Punjab: Murree 46, Lahore (Airport 29, City 02), Gujranwala 04, Mangla 02, Mandibahudin 01.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 40, Malamjabba 03.Kashmir: Rawalakot 22 Garhi Dupatta 09, Muzaffarabad, Kotli 05.Balochistan: Panjgur 02.Sindh: Mithi 04 mm. The highest maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Dalbandin, Nokkundi 45 C, Bhakkar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dadu 44 C, Chillas, Larkana, Noorpurthal, Bahawalnagar and Sukkur 43 C.
