Iran Open for Dialogue, Ready to Work for Middle Eastern Interests - Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that Tehran was open to international dialogue with neighboring countries and ready to participate in any follow-up work for regional interests

TEHRAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2020) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that Tehran was open to international dialogue with neighboring countries and ready to participate in any follow-up work for regional interests.

"Iran remains open for a dialogue with its neighbors, and we declare our readiness to participate in any complementary work that is in the region's interests," Zarif wrote in Arabic on Twitter in an apparent appeal to Iran's Arab neighbors.

According to the minister, Iran welcomes any step that brings peace and stability to middle Eastern nations.

Since early January, the Middle East has been experiencing a wave of escalation in the wake of the US' killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani near the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. Soleimani's murder prompted Iran to conduct ballistic missile strikes on Iraqi military bases housing US and NATO-allied troops.
