Israel, Russia May Open 'Green Corridor' To Ease Customs Procedures In Late 2020 -Minister

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2020) Israel and Russia may open a bilateral trade "green corridor" for simplified customs clearance for certain goods in the second half of 2020, Zeev Elkin, the Israeli co-chair of the Russian-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission, minister of Jerusalem affairs and minister of environmental protection, told Sputnik.

According to the minister, the possibility was discussed during a meeting between Israeli officials and a Russian delegation. The meeting was held under the preparation for Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Israel, scheduled for Thursday.

"During our meeting, we also discussed preparation for implementing the protocol on creating the 'green' customs corridor. During the discussion, we found it possible to implement it in the second part of the year. This protocol allows companies to enjoy simplified exports and imports of goods and services in both countries as well as eased customs procedures," Elkin said.

The minister added that the launch of the green customs corridors would improve cooperation between the countries' customs services, including data exchange between them.
