European Olympic Committees to Intervene in WADA-RUSADA Dispute at Arbitration Court

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) said on Wednesday that it would engage in the dispute between the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as a third party

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2020) The European Olympic Committees (EOC) said on Wednesday that it would engage in the dispute between the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as a third party.

"The purpose is to ensure that the interests of the National Olympic Committees of Europe and clean athletes in particular are duly considered. Together with the International Olympic Committee, the EOC wants to see a clear and definitive decision on the case so as to have clarity for the future," the EOC said in a press release.

RUSADA decided late in December to disagree with WADA's decision to label the Russian agency as non-compliant with the wold anti-doping code and to suspend Russian athletes for four years from competing in major international competitions under the national flag. Under the established procedure, upon receiving the notice from RUSADA, WADA should officially submit the dispute to the CAS. The Russian Olympic Committee said in mid-January it would join the process as a third party.
